Federal Taxes

Taxes, money taken by coercive force, is one of the ways the
government we serve raises money to support itself: IE finance the socialist (a
planned society administered by a command class) programs it perpetrates on the
citizenry, and, to some extent, finance those things the Constitution charged
them to do. The other ways are to counterfeit/inflate money and to confiscate
property.
Taxes pay only a portion of the cost of maintaining the
Federal Government (elected and bureaucratic forces for good or evil) the people
have established either through direct participation in the election process or
by apathy. Don’t like it? Remember; the more people fail to self-govern in a
moral and responsible way, the more government they will have, pay for, and be
answerable to. If you want government to provide things for you, you should
provide for yourself, you will not only have to give the government the money to
pay for them, but the cost of having the government provide them for you. If you
can give me a reasonable explanation for doing this, I’m all ears.
In the U.S., each level of government was created to serve and
protect the Life, Liberty and Properties of its immediate lesser level of
government, nothing more. Each higher level should be a latent power, unless
matters demand its forces be utilized. The Federal Government was created to
protect the States collectively from foreign intrusion and provide and maintain
an infrastructure at the pleasure of said States: NOT TO REGULATE EVERY ASPECT
OF ALL OTHER LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT AND INDIVIDUALS ACTIVITIES, as it does today.
The sixteenth amendment (the one near and dear to the hearts
of the Socialist Command
Class, along with the 14th that made us citizens of
the Federal government, not States) tied an umbilical cord between the
individual and the Federal Government circumventing all the other levels of
government. The 17th had a hand in it to as it established an
aristocracy to spend the peoples money. Consider: The cost/power of the higher
levels of government must be controlled by the lesser bodies down to and
including individuals. Power/money must flow from the people up through each
level without circumventing any of them. The money now flows, (through the use
of coercive force in the form of federal taxes etc.), directly from the people
to the Federal government. This reverse in Constitutional principals has lead to
power flowing from the Fed down. After the Cost /Overhead to run the Fed, which
amounts to about $.70 of every tax dollar it collects, the balance, $.30 on the
dollar, flows back down with strings attached to accomplish the agenda of said
Federal government. Ideally, the sixteenth and 14th amendments should be
repealed but being a realist, I would submit legislation to accomplish the
following as a short term alternative.
All funding for the Federal Government would flow from the
respective States, NOT INDIVIDUALS, with the exception of excise taxes as
outlined in the Constitution. The Federal income tax would be replaced by a
State income tax for funding the Fed, severing said umbilical cord. To the
extent the States wanted to fund the Fed., they would have to get the money from
the citizens of their respective States. It is a lot easier for the people to
control their State governments than it is for them to control the Fed.
Each State Legislature would determine the extent they want
Federal intrusion in their affairs and what they would be willing to pay for
said intrusion. The money the Fed has to spend is the property of the citizens
of the respective States to begin with. The States Senators (answerable to and
speaking for their State legislature) would gather with the other States
Senators and hash out a Federal budget, based on their instructions, for all but
defense. Their vote would be at the direction of their respective State
Legislature to serve the interest of their State, not to satisfy their own will
and appetite. No aristocratic loose cannons as the Senators are today. The cost
to the respective States would be a flat tax based on their respective net
worth. This would put the States back in control of the Federal government and
could serve to cut Federal spending and taxes, in that it would give the States
the power to eliminate the mandates the Fed perpetrates on them by once again,
controlling the purse strings. The States would have it within their power to
defund the Federal Bureaucracies and hopefully eliminate them. Did you know the
only bureaucracy at the time the Country was founded was the Post Office. Just
about all the other ones came into existence durng the 20th century;
the majority of them in the latter half. How far we have come.
The funds raised for the defense budget would be worked out as
it is spelled out in the Constitution now, but the money would flow through the
same channels I have outlined for the other cost of financing the federal
government
Approval of the Federal budget, with the exception of the
Defense budget, would require a two/thirds (2/3’s) majority of the Senate. The
defense budget funding approval mechanism would not change from that outlined in
the Constitution.
